First trip to college!

26 09 2009

HEY HEY HEY! What’s up ladies? Sorry not the lack of postage this week. It was a cuhhhrazy week in school terms. Lots to do, lots to do. But I am done with it and don’t have an insane amount of homework this weekend.

It’s late. I’m getting tired. Let’s get to it!

Fun

Tomorrow my school is having a 10 AM varsity guys soccer game then a powder-puff football game after, of which yours truly will be busting her behind in! It’s Freshman/Sophomores vs. Juniors and Seniors. All I have to say is that the upperclassmen are going down!! 🙂 Should be a blast! I’m very excited!

College

This week my class took it’s first trip to a college! I’m not going to say where for privacy purposes, but it’s an hour away and absolutely beautiful. I immediately fell in love with it. Let’s just talk about the pros…

  1. 1 hour away—perfect in my opinion! Not too far, but not too close 😉
  2. Fabulous array of majors—50+ And it has a great exercise (sports) science program and you can work with cadavers (only a few colleges in the nation have an undergraduate program that can do this!!)
  3. Gorgeous—oh me oh my! Beautiful campus!!
  4. Fabulous gym—nuff said 😉
  5. It just felt right. Of course, it’s only my first real visit, so I know I have plenty of time and many more colleges to visit in the upcoming years, but it just felt so right. It just felt like home! I almost can’t explain it…
    1. But I’m blessed to live in an area with many, many fabulous colleges around. I’m a lucky girl 😀

I’ve been thinking about majors a lot lately…I really have two ways I could/want to go:

  1. Exercise Science—> Eventually most likely physical therapy!
  2. Nutrition—> lots of options!

Again, I have plenty of time, but I’m a planner. Lately I’ve been leaning towards exercise science because I can incorporate a lot of nutrition into that! But like I said…I’ll figure it out. I’m definitely taking AP Chemistry senior year. That will help lots!

I have a grand idea that my mom and I came up together—but I’ll talk about it more in another post soon. I think you girls will really like it!

Enough chit chat, agreed? Let’s get on to the food!

Food

Most of these pictures speak for themselves! 🙂

But, the common themes for this week’s greek yogurt messes are:

  • Oikos Greek Yogurt
  • Nature’s Path Pumpkin Raisin Crunch
  • Bear Naked Fit Berry Granola
  • Oatmeal Crisp (Crunchy Almond)

Are you drooling yet??

Exercise this week has been awesome. I just love feeling stronger! It’s a great feeling. Check out what I’ve been up to on the sidebar.

Verse of the Day: Proverbs 13:24

Those who love their children care enough to discipline them.

Hate to admit it—but it’s definitely true! 😉

I am super excited about tomorrow’s breakfast. It’s green and involves the word BRAN.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

College is going to be so great for you! You’re lucky that you found what you enjoy doing early 🙂 I have a math and econ major and I don’t use it at all! I’m deciding if I want to go back to grad school for nutrition or linguistics… decisions, decisions. Glad you’re back 🙂

ahh the good ol college visits. As much fun as they were, wait til you get stuck at one you don’t like, then it doesn’t go so well. Glad you found one you liked though!!

Im totally enjoying a yogurt mess in a happy bowl too!! I really gotta try grilling my pb/banana sammie!

OMG college is SO exciting! The fact that it “felt right” is probably the most important factor in picking a school, but I’m sure you’ll be happy wherever you decide to go. Also, the fabulous gym doesn’t hurt either… Have a great weekend 🙂

That’s so awesome you took a trip to your college! I basically decided on the community college my senior year of high school so I didn’t get to see any fancy colleges 🙂 You prospective one sounds awesome! Especially since there is a gym!

Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope

I ended up doing all my college tours when I was in middle school since my brothers are both quite a bit older than me, and I just tagged along on theirs in the summer. However, I know for a fact that the best way to decide on a college is to tour them. At every college, try to imagine yourself living there. Where would you eat? What dorm would you live it? Where would your classes be? College reputations don’t mean anything if you can’t feel comfortable where you live. Just keep that in mind these next few years and go on as many tours as you can! 🙂

Girl, you KNOW I’m digging these greeken messes! LOVE ‘EM!

Enjoy what’s left of your weekend!

I can’t wait to hear about your new idea (and your mom’s)! It’s definitely good to plan early, but don’t worry about it too much 🙂

Awesome bowls, bars, wraps, and sammies as usual! Oooh, and drool-worthy dessert!

Yum yum and yum!!

On another note, have you ever heard of Food Science?! It seems like you like Chemistry/Science and food/nutrition. It combines the two and the job market for food scientists is HUGE and flourishing! You could be developing the next big thing! Just something to think about! 😀 (it’s my major! haha…so I may be a bit biased!).

Girl, thank you for your comments! You’ve been such a sweetheart, I’ve been so happy to read what you’ve been writing on my blog… even though I didn’t always have time to comment here.

I still haven’t tried grilled pb-banana sandwiches = shame on me!

I’m guilty of being a planner too :P, but hey, that’s what helps me stay sane, so if it’s the same for you, I get it. As they say, those who fail to plan, plan to fail (or at least that’s what I like to tell myself).

Love,
Tina
